Our Philosophy of Software Design

Human Led, AI Assisted
Software begins with a human idea, not an AI prompt. People define the needs, design the features, test the results, and own the outcomes. AI assists with technical decision-making, API research, and troubleshooting — but final responsibility rests with the developer. See Our Inspiration for why we believe this.
Any AI-powered feature should be made optional and user-initiated—never automatic by default.
User-Owned Data Infrastructure
User-created data should only be stored in locations accessible only to the user, such as on a personal device or in cloud servers not controlled by the company.
Get Consent Before Collecting
Never assume the user wants:
To share diagnostic logs
To receive marketing-related emails or newsletters
To share any personally-identifying data with the developer
Design for All Users
Built-in support for assistive technologies such as Apple’s VoiceOver and Dynamic Type
Use of a color scheme usable by both users with and without color blindness
Support for high contrast options and/or dark mode
Enable Out of App Data Access
Identify what application data is most important to the user
Provide the user with options for accessing that data outside of the app, especially in downgrade scenarios
Clearly communicate to users how they may access their most important data outside of the app
Long-Term Commitment to Users
Provide the same level of support to users with older devices as users of newer devices.
Updates and bug fixes continue as long as the minimum OS version can be maintained.
Engineer new features that leverage the latest APIs while preserving backward compatibility.
